Westmanton Stables is located at Wendy McKelvy's Iron Horse Farms, a private facility designed for the serious dressage rider. The farm is located 3 miles west of Elizabeth, CO on the Douglas/Elbert county line (view mapquest map).
Iron Horse Farms has indoor and outdoor arenas with sand/rubber composite footing by Brent Boyd's company, SureFoot, Inc. A new barn is under construction which will feature 12x12 stalls with dutch doors, automatic waterers, interlocking mats, wash stalls, grooming stalls, tack rooms, horse laundry, farrier area, lounge and offices.
The Iron Horse Farms staff and Westmanton staff provide the highest level of care, customized to the needs of each horse, including most stallions. Progressive Nutrition grains are fed three times per day, timothy/grass mix hay four times per day, supplements as directed and bedding is shavings. Daily field turnout is available in several different sized areas. Horses are turned out individually to minimize injuries. Late night check is done every evening, 7 days per week, as staff reside on the premises.
